bestowed {giveaway}
(This giveaway is closed.) I’m turning 26 on Wednesday and I don’t feel ready for it.
What I mean is, I just don’t feel 26 years old (or how I thought it was supposed to feel, anyway). I still put the water pitcher back in the fridge empty sometimes, much to the chagrin of the husband. I still don’t know how to do my own taxes. I don’t separate my reds from my darks when I do laundry because I’m too lazy. I don’t go to the dentist twice a year or floss every day like I should. I still get excited when I hear the music from the ice cream truck down the street. And sometimes, when I’ve had a rough day, I feel the urge to cuddle up with my old blankie.
That said, I’m excited to turn another year older. I love being a (mostly) grownup. I like being able to do my own thang; I like being able to vote and to drive and to have a beverage with bourbon in it and to not get grounded when I come home later than 11 p.m. And I like having the freedom to be in charge of my own health and nutrition.
Of course, that’s easier said than done for me (see above, “too lazy”). I’d much rather eat a doughnut or a bag of chips as a snack than an apple or an energy bar. So when I found out that I can have a monthly care package of healthy goodies sent to me each month, I was ALL OVER IT. Taking care of my health and nutrition is a much easier choice when it’s sent to my doorstep in the form of a present.
Bestowed does just that. I received my first package in the mail just a few weeks ago and I’m already in love. Each month, you receive several nutrition and lifestyle products in the mail handpicked by a renowned nutritionist. Each box also comes with a description of each product, why it’s good for you and how you can incorporate it into your life (which is helpful for someone like me, who took one look at the bag of hemp seeds I received and was instantly overcome with mild fear and trepidation). Here’s what I received in my April box:
Gnu Foods Hi-Fiber Minis: Little squares of sweet-yet-healthy goodness jam-packed with whole grains, antioxidants and fiber. Plus they come in flavors like cinnamon-raisin and chocolate brownie. BROWNIE. I rest my case.
$25 iTrain gift card: This little card gives you access to a whole website full of downloadable fitness training programs and workouts. Trust me, this card can help you get out of an exercise rut in a big way.
Oloves Hot Chilli Mama olives: Little bites of healthy heaven with a little bit of heat. Seriously, YUM.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts: I regularly sprinkle some chia or flax seeds on my morning oatmeal but I’ve got a new favorite addition in these hemp seeds. The seeds taste like sunflower seeds and they’re loaded with protein and vitamins. Besides oatmeal, you can sprinkle them on salad or yogurt for extra crunch and nutrition.
Nektar Honey Crystals: These packets are a healthy, natural way to sweeten your favorite foods and beverages. I mean, it’s GRANULATED HONEY. I think that’s pretty neat.
EBOOST: I love, love, LOVED giving these packets a whirl in my water before a morning workout. It was just the fuel I needed to stay hydrated before, during and after my routine, and it tasted good, too (sometimes I get bored with the taste of water and need a little more oomph, you know?).
Kind Healthy Grains Oats & Honey Clusters: This may have been my favorite product in the whole box. I love granola for all sorts of reasons, but oftentimes it’s just not that healthy for you when you eat handful after handful. This one? This one is made with amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat and toasted coconut for a little bit of sweetness (it’s GF, too!). It tastes like magic in oatmeal and on top of Greek yogurt.
Now that I’ve talked your ear off about how great these goodies are, let’s get to the good stuff: The giveaway! Because it’s my birthday week and I like you, I’m giving away a one-month subscription to one lucky reader — as a birthday gift, a love gift and a gift for your health.
Here’s the giveaway rundown:

I adore foods you get in US. I can not enter the competition but I am thrilled to find out about this company. I am going to ask my relative to help me buy and send them down under for me!
Happy Birthday Steph! Hope your day is great. What a fun surprise to get those treats in the mail each month. It is a great way to turn snacks to the healthier side, without any work! Win, win!
Happy Birthday! Hope you had an awesome day and what s fun package and giveaway!
I plan on getting healthier this year by training for my very first triathlon! I think having snacks that will fuel my workouts would be a great help – I love the idea of bestowed!
I already work out regularly and eat healthy but the one thing I need to work on is relaxing more. I stress way to much over little things that don’t matter and I know that isn’t healthy. Happy Birthday!
I will be getting healthier this year by training for my first Marathon!
You are NEVER too old to get excited about ice cream truck music, lol. Just turned 27 last week myself and I still got completely giddy opening all my cards at the breakfast table. I think adulthood is a myth 🙂
Awesome giveaway! What a cool idea.
PS. To answer your question/the giveaway: Trying to be more conscious about not coming home from work and devouring an entire bag of tortilla chips!
Happy birthday! It’s not healthy in a fitness way, but my goal this year is to floss regularly.
What a great idea? it’s hard to find healthy snacks. I’m going to get healthy this month by finally watching and doing the exercise tape that came with my exercise ball. (must have had it for at least 5 years. lol)
I love snacking, and I’m hoping this month will be the month of eating only healthy snacks in moderation.
Happy early birthday! I felt similarly about turning 26. I bought myself wrinkle cream and moped around for a bit. But, now that 26 is two years behind me, I can say, that it was a pretty great year! I still can’t do my own taxes. I get carded everywhere I go and I have to stop myself from buying ALL the glitter nail polish at CVS. But, I do a lot of adult things too! My health goal is to try to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night! 🙂
Now that Michigan has finally warmed up, my boyfriend and I are going on quick 2 mile walks together 2x a day (morning and evening). I always try to eat healthy, but sometimes I’m just so lazy, too, and end up going out to eat or reaching for junky snacks– I’m trying to cut that back too!
I love the idea of a healthy snack gift box delivered right to your door! So much of the time the reason that we eat junk food is because it is what is readily available. By having snacks like this around, I will be motivated to eat healthier all day, not just at meals.
Seriously, I don’t know how adults do it…I still feel like I’m 12 myself and I’m currently curled up in my old blanket as I type this! Bestowed sounds pretty cool! I love Kind granola and need to check out all those other goodies. Hope you have a beautiful bday cake comin your way!
