I’m just going to come right out and say it:
I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS SPOONBREAD AND I DON’T CARE WHO KNOWS IT.
So there you go. Now you know. Informercial over.
OK but have you ever tried, or even heard of, spoonbread before? I’ve made it a couple of times for the blog, but I have to say this recipe? It’s my fravrit. As evidenced by my declaration above.
And if you want to read me waxing poetic about it more and/or just cut to the chase and get the recipe, I’m sharing it over on the lovely Julia of The Roasted Root’s blog today. See you there!
P.S. Yes, this was all written without caffeine. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
I’ve never had spoon bread, let alone make it, but it sounds lovely!! Can’t wait to try!

Hi Stephanie! I just found your site, and now I’ve got a brand new recipe to make! And no, I’ve never heard of spoonbread. But … I just read the post on The Roasted Root, and I want to eat it. Every day. In fact, I’m making chicken tortilla soup for dinner tomorrow – and this will pair just perfectly with it!! I mean, if you’re telling me that I’ll be singing from the rooftops and then collapsing into a food coma … well, that’s a winning endorsement! Thanks! 🙂
I’ve never had spoonbread. GASP. Must. Remedy. Immediately.
Gretchen — Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! You have to get spoonbread into your life; it’s too good to pass up, especially with chicken tortilla soup on the side. Also, let me know what time dinner is. 😉
Joanne — I wholeheartedly agree. 😉
This looks and sounds amazing! Love cornbread- and I wouldn’t share… 🙂
I have never had spoon bread, but this looks like something that I HAVE to try!
Jess — Thankfully sharing is so not necessary. 🙂 Thanks!
