Boozy Chocolate Horchata blends melted chocolate, cinnamon, and rum into pure indulgence. It’s smooth, rich, and honestly unlike any horchata you’ve had before.

TGIT, amiright? I mean, it’s Thursday, which is thisclose to the weekend, so why not raise a glass and toast to almost-weekends, boozy chocolate horchatas and sweet giveaways?

First things first: THESE BEVVIES. They’re rich and chocolate-cinnamony and extra cheers-worthy with the addition of white rum. They’re made with rice milk to give them that classic horchata flavor, and believe me when I tell you that they go down easy. Especially when paired with Christmas cookies. Ahem.

I’ll admit I’m not usually a sweet adult beverage fan — give me a dirty martini or a Manhattan or a G&T and I’m set. But every so often, generally around the holidays, I get the craving — for eggnog, for Christmas-colored Cosmos, for Baileys and coffee and now, for this boozy chocolate horchata situation. In fact, this might be my go-to sweet drink for any and all occasions henceforth. It’s just too good to have just once a year.

And let me clarify this: By “sweet”, I don’t mean like coat your mouth in chocolate sweet (ew, but that’s a thing we’ve all experienced, let’s be real), but more like a rich, creamy, fancy chocolate milk kind of sweet. You know what I mean — where the chocolate is real, and it’s just melted, and there’s a hint of sweetness but also a slight hint of bitter cocoa-ness, too. In this case, there’s also a hint of cinnamon, agave nectar, rice milk and white rum. Combined, it’s pretty much perfection in a cocktail. And in my humble opinion, I think it would make for a great holiday party drink (wink wink).

I made this on a whim before friends came over and didn’t expect it to be such a hit. Melting the chocolate chips took all of two minutes, and it blended up super smooth. Poured it over ice and served with cinnamon sticks because I felt like showing off a little!
