parker house rolls {giveaway}
(This giveaway is closed.)
Rolls, rolls, rolls! And no, I’m not talking about what happens to my body when I eat too many rolls. Um, awkward.
I’m just saying it’s been a bit of a bread roll party around here, and if that’s OK with you, it’s OK with me. Because when the fluffiest and softest and cuddliest — er, most delicious of Parker House rolls are invited, it’s the best kind of roll party. Whatever that is. Right.
ANYWHO. Let’s talk about (dinner) rolls!
If you’ve never made a Parker House roll from scratch before, now is the time. And if you’ve never eaten a Parker House roll before, the situation is even more dire — because you must. You must try them. They are the epitome of dinner roll goodness. When you think of the perfect dinner roll — all warm and soft and fluffy on the inside with a slight crust and crunch on the outside — you are most definitely envisioning a Parker House roll. You just might not know it. And guess what? They’re the easiest things ever to bake right at home, too. So that’s a win-win-win right there (extra win for the eating part, obviously).
And in case you still need some coaxing into the kitchen, I’m sharing some handy tips and tricks for best-ever bread baking on the KitchenAid blog, The Kitchenthusiast, today along with the recipe for these pull-apart Parker House rolls, which are made with 1) flour and yeast (yes, yeast. Do not fear!), 2) a KitchenAid 11-Cup Food Processor, which kneads like a champ (who knew??) and 3) love. And I’m also giving away one of these things right here, right now!
If you guessed the food processor, you are correct. And OK, I’m giving away some love, too. In the form of a food processor.
Thanks to the generous peeps at KitchenAid, one lucky reader will win an 11-Cup Food Processor with ExactSlice System in Contour Silver. This slick countertop appliance has two work bowls, an adjustable slicer (so you can slice thick or thin, depending on your needs) and a 3-in-1 feed tube. I have one and I love it for anything from slicing potatoes for potato chips to making quick sauces to kneading dough. And if you win, I know you’ll love it, too.
To enter, leave a comment below answering the question: What are your Valentine’s Day plans?
And that’s it! Giveaway ends at 11:59 p.m. CST Feb. 15 and is open to U.S. residents 18 years and older only. Good luck!
UPDATE: Molly is our winner. Thanks for playing, everyone!
P.S. Thank you so much for your sweet notes on my post earlier this week. I can’t even. I just. Love. All of you.
Disclosure: I received a KitchenAid food processor for recipe development purposes only. All opinions are my own.
I am cooking dinner at home for my husband!
nothing fancy…a friend & her husband just lost their home and 1 car to a fire last night. They both are safe. But it puts into perspective what is important in life. So, I plan to FaceTime with my son and family and share love!
Having dinner and some tv with friends
I can’t believe I’ve never made Parker House Rolls (although I have eaten them, so at least I’m not that bad!). They look like perfect little carby pillows. My Valentine’s Day plans will hopefully involve chocolate and wine!
I’m making dinner for my husband!
I will be filling valentine tins with homemade white fudge and delivering them to my caring neighbors.
Diner with friends
My boyfriend and I will be celebrating our 8 year anniversary this February, so I decided to take him sky diving on valentine’s day since it’s something he’s always wanted to do. I’m also going to make a nice picnic (including maybe these Parker House Rolls because they look DELICIOUS) for us to share after.
Hubs and I are finally going on our honeymoon…and our trip begins on Valentine’s Day! We’re so excited for some warm weather!
Can’t wait to make the Parkerhouse Rolls! My Valentine’s Day will be spent with my wonderful hubby! Hopefully with lots of good food, some wine and yummy dessert! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Dinner at home, I’m going to see if I can get my nerve up to try and make these rolls, they look so so good!
On February 13 my husband and I are attending a Masquerade Gala fundraiser for a local ministry he serves with. There will be music, dancing, food, silent auction and I get to wear a VERY fancy dress!!
No plans yet for V-Day. Spending time with my hubby and kids for sure. 🙂
we don’t have any plans–i think we’ll avoid the restaurants and i’ll just make us a special supper. 🙂
From February 13-15, restaurants and venues in metro Phoenix, Arizona are packed. Restaurants double up tables, so that you are practically sitting on the lap of the person next to you. So my husband and I always wait until a week later or a week before to have our special day. If we do have our date on Valentine’s Day, we stay at home and cook. We are both very good cooks…I do desserts and cakes and my husband makes a fantastic steak using my dad’s recipe. My dad had a restaurant and my mom was also a great cook. I learned from my mom and my husband, being the oldest of four and already knowing how to cook really well, learned how to do steaks from my dad. We have a “secret” marinade originally created by my dad and it makes the most delicious steak. We’ll have my mom’s Cheesy Potatoes…I always thought this was her recipe but later in years found out just about everyone has a version of this potato dish. We’ll use a recipe from Morton’s Steakhouse for another veggie dish…Brussels sprouts with carmelized onions and bacon…YUM! For dessert, I’ll probably make some type of “red” dish…red velvet cake, sugar cookies in the shape of a heart with red royal icing, or cheesecake ice cream with strawberries. To end this perfect dinner, we’ll have a nice cup of espresso with a candied lemon peel. Yep, the more I talk about this, I think we’ll just have our date at home!
