recipe roundup — fall sweets + breakfast treats
Happy Thursday, ladies and gentlefolk! I hope your weeks have been treating you well and that you’re looking ahead to fun-filled weekends. As for me, I’m heading to Iowa City this weekend to catch up with old friends, so this week has been pretty hectic in getting everything prepped for some time away.
BUT because I like you guys and I just can’t leave you hanging without something yummy to share, I’ve wrastled up a roundup of some tasty fall sweets and breakfast treats I’ve been creating for some neat sites I write for, like Tablespoon, Betty Crocker, Bisquick and KitchenAid. Get ready for some serious yums in your face.
First up! Slow Cooker Turtle Upside-Down Cake (pictured above). Um, to say that I ate approximately half of this cake with my by myself in two days is an understatement. It’s rich and it’s delicious and it’s easy and you gots to make it.
Easy Cinnamon Roll Waffles. Did you know if you put those refrigerated cinnamon rolls that come from a can into a waffle iron and cook them that way, they turn into this magical creation known as cinnamon roll waffles? Well, now you do. Bonus points if you dip them in the glaze.
Pina Colada Monkey Bread. This may be a little too tropical for fall times, but when you’ve got a monkey bread this decadent and flavorful to be had, I really couldn’t give a hey-hoo what season it is — it just needs to be in my belly.
Slow Cooker Apple Butter, anyone? That’s a rhetorical question. This makes for a great edible gift, y’all! And as a topping for pancakes and oatmeal and/or a spoon.
Here’s a post all about recipes using apples and pears, like these salted caramel apple pear scones. You heard me — Salted Caramel. Apple Pear. Scones.
And here’s another post featuring three easy-peasy breakfast rolls. Hint: One involves pumpkin and the phrase “sticky bun,” another involves coffee and cherries and the third is a riff on biscuits and gravy. I’ll leave you to drool for a moment.
Dutch Apple Crisp Yogurt Cookie Cups. These wee treats taste like the lovechild of a sugar cookie and apple crisp in bite-size form.
Mocha-Glazed Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread. Really, I think the name says it all. Let’s just get to the eating part.
Dark Chocolate Roasted Cherry Quick Bread, with a secret ingredient! Ooooooh, ahhhhh.
And finally, how to make fluffy Pumpkin Pancakes in the blender. Your breakfast/brunch/brinner will never be the same.
There you have it, friends! A plethora of carbs and sugar to get you through the weekend. Happy baking!
