Ingredients You’ll Need

Here is what you will need to make the best Oreo ice cream cake!

Use a whole package of Oreos. There are 36 Oreos in a standard size package. Feel free to use regular, Double stuffed, mint Oreos, or even golden Oreos! For gluten free, use gluten free Oreos.

Melted butter helps form the Oreo crust. For dairy free, use dairy free butter.

Choose your favorite type of ice cream! Cookies and cream is the obvious choice. Experiment with chocolate, Oreo, mint chocolate chip or even something fun!

Hot fudge sauce adds a gooey chocolate layer. A drizzle of caramel sauce would be fun here too.

Lastly, top with whipped cream and crushed Oreos. This adds some fluff on top!

How to Make

Step 1

To begin, line a 9 inch by 13 inch pan with parchment paper.  Set this aside.

Step 2

Add Oreos to a food processor.  Process until very crumbly.

Pour in the melted butter.  Stir to fully combine.

Step 4

Press this mixture down into an even layer in the parchment lined pan.

Scoop the ice cream on top of the Oreo crust.  Use a spatula to smooth it into one even layer.  Place plastic wrap over the pan.  Freeze for 1 hour.

Step 6

Remove the pan from the freezer.  Pour the hot fudge sauce on top.  Swirl together.  If needed, microwave hot fudge for 15 to 20 seconds to make it easier to pour.

Cover the pan. Freeze for 1 hour.

Step 8

Remove the pan from the freezer.  Gently spread whipped topping over the cake into one even layer.  Garnish with some chopped Oreos or chocolate chips if desired.  Return pan to the freezer for 30 minutes.

Finally, remove Oreo ice cream cake from freezer.  After a few minutes, cut into squares and serve.

Use softened ice cream. I like to leave mine on the kitchen counter for 30 minutes before making this recipe.

Freeze each layer as you go. This allows each layer to get set before adding another layer.

To cut, carefully use a very sharp knife.
